Inference

The comprehension strategy that we are learning about at the moment

Inferring is “reading between the lines”



We use our schema and our understanding to infer things that the author has not written – The invisible ink of the story.

We use our knowledge of body language, faces, expression and the author’s tone to help us.

We are like detectives searching for clues to understand the story.

We ask ourselves, “What does the author mean by....?”
