Mexico Facts Written By Sam & Alex Estados Unidos Mexicanos, or The United States of Mexico, is home to 126 million people as of 2021, making it the 11 th largest country by population in the World. Mexico Has 31 States, and has a capital city called Mexico City, but it wasn’t actually the capital until 2016, the actual capital was a city called Ciudad de Mexico, but its replacement, Mexico City, is now the 8 th wealthiest city in the World. Mexico is located in the Ring Of Fire, a vast area in and around central and South America, consisting of 452 volcanoes, including the world’s smallest, at 43 feet high! It’s still quite a risky place to live, though. Mexico’s border with the USA is the second largest border on Earth, being 2,000 miles long. Inference The comprehension strategy that we are learning about at the moment Inferring is “reading between the lines” We use our schema and our understanding to infer things that the author has not written – The invisible ink of the story. We use our knowledge of body language, faces, expression and the author’s tone to help us. We are like detectives searching for clues to understand the story.
